Garrett Clancy, dir. 80 min. Horror. KILLER STORY
is a darkly comic horror feature inspired by Edgar
Allan Poe, and starring William Smith (Conan the Barbarian,
Any Which Way You Can, Rumble Fish, Red Dawn), Joe
Estevez (Hell Asylum, Dillinger and Capone), Pat Thomas
(Uncle Fester in Addams Family Reunion), and Janet
Tracy Keijser (House on Haunted Hill).
Two
pulp writers (Smith and Estevez) are locked away in
a remote saloon by a mysterious girl (Susan Featherly).
She challenges the two men to out-duel each other
with their storytelling abilities, offering herself
as first prize. Both men are enticed, but they do
not know they are battling each other for their very
lives. First Fortunato (Smith) offers his story, a
tale about a screenwriter (newcomer Ron Drewes) with
a wife from Hell who demands a face-lift (Keijser).
The screenwriter is happy to oblige. Next, Monty (Estevez)
follows with a tale about an ambitious college professor
(Emmy Smith) with a brain-damaged hubby (Thomas),
who’s threatening to eat her out of house and
home. What she does to get rid of her gluttonous beau
is horrific and appropriate. It’s a tight contest,
both men have tried to outwit each other to win the
Girl and stay alive by telling the best Killer Story.
